Cuzin's N Harmony

"Old Time Brother-Style Duets"

about this project

Long time cousins, Jay Armsworthy and Woody Norris grew up in complete opposite genres of music. With Jay growing up into Bluegrass and Woody into Rock N Roll, their paths never crossed until they discovered each other at a local jam session. Woody had taken an interest in acoustic guitar and started getting into Bluegrass. After a few conversations and some picking and singing, it was then they could feel the family harmony.

Although growing up around separate types of music and musicians, in their later years, they both had come to appreciate the old-time brother harmonies such as Louvin’s, Jim and Jesse, Stanley’s, and the Monroe's. That's when they started learning some of their tunes. Jay would bring in one and Woody would come up with one he liked, then the harmonies just fell in the groove. They started getting a couple of gigs and fundraisers here and there and decided to add a bass. Long time friends and sound technician, Troy Jones helped out on a few gigs and still does when he's not busy running his sound company.

Although Jay and Woody have their own musical projects, they feel that they want to share this long-lost style of music and attract it to a new audience as well as the early generation that still enjoys that brotherly harmony sound.

A CD is soon to be released with their music.
